The bells ring

The bells ring

When the bell clock strikes three, it takes 3 seconds to ring the three bells.

How long will it take the clock to give the chimes at seven?

Solution

When the clock strikes three o'clock, three seconds pass between the first and the last bell or what is the same between the first and the second bell will take 1.5 seconds and between the second and the third bell it will take 1.5 seconds more, in total 3 seconds in two time intervals.

On the other hand, when the clock strikes seven, we will have six intervals and if we multiply 6 times the time used in each interval we have 6 * 1.5 = 9 seconds.
