A blind man entered a cafe where some girls were celebrating a party. He sat for a moment and then said:
I greet the twenty-four ladies here present.
One of them replied: We are not twenty-four, but if we were five times more than we are, we would be as many more than twenty-four as so many less we are at the moment.
How many girls were in the gathering?
They were 8 girls, as:
5 x 8 = 40 (if we were 5 times more than we are ...)
40 - 24 = 16 (... we would be so many more than 24 ...)
24 - 8 = 16 (… how many fewer we are at this time.)
