Video on Adaptive Disorder
When a traumatic or very stressful event occurs that causes a prolonged or excessively negative reaction in someone, that person is considered to suffer a adaptive disorder, which is characterized by a prolonged state of anxiety, depressive mood, difficulty moving forward and maladaptive behavior such as non-compliance with the rules, problems at work or school, physical complaints or social isolation.
The adjustment disorder, sometimes called situational depression, is an abnormal and excessive reaction to an identifiable stressor of life. The reaction is more serious than would normally be expected and can cause a significant deterioration in social, labor or academic functioning. We explain everything in this video.
